SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) _ Craig Young rushed for 232 yards and scored twice to lead Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to a 38-10 victory over Southern Utah on Saturday night.

Cal Poly (2-2) held a 3-0 lead at halftime but the Mustangs' offense came to life in the second half.

Young took a handoff from quarterback Andy Jepson at the Mustang 16-yard line and broke free up the middle for an 84-yard touchdown run to make it 10-0.

Southern Utah (3-2) answered with David Pretzer's 37-yard field goal, but Jepson hooked up with wide receiver Adam Herzing for a 39-yard TD pass that made it 17-3 with eight minutes left in the third quarter.

Brook Madsen rushed for 152 yards on 20 carries for the Thunderbirds, who lost starting quarterback Matt Cannon to a hip-pointer with 2:22 left in the second quarter.

Replacement Rob Chapman threw for 65 yards and rushed for 30.
