JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) _ Lamont Zachery and Jonathan Adams each rushed for 107 yards to lead Arkansas State to its first win of the season, 45-20 over Sam Houston State on Saturday night.

Two of Zachery's runs went for touchdowns _ a 27-yard run in the opening quarter that put ASU up 14-0, and a 17-yarder in the second quarter that made it 28-0.

Cleo Lemon passed for three touchdowns in the first half. Jamie Hickenbotham caught a pass on a 50-yard scoring play with 10:50 remaining in the first quarter, and Kevin Woods pulled one in for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Sam Houston State (2-2) finally got on the board with a 2-yard scoring run by Joe Rauls with 4:12 left before halftime. But with 33 seconds remaining in the half, Lemon connected with Riboert Kilow for another touchdown to put the Indians up 35-7 at halftime.

Lemon finished 11-of-23 for 188 yards with no interceptions.

Adams opened up the second-half scoring with a 37-yard TD run in the third quarter. Nick Gatto finished the scoring for Arkansas State (1-3) with a 24-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

The Bearkats scored twice in the second half _ on a 7-yard TD pass by Chris Chaloupka to Demetrius Polk, and a 30-yard pass from Albert Bradley to Jermaine Henderson.

Arkansas State finished with 519 yards offense _ 324 on the ground.
