STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ Second-half touchdowns by fullback Matt Feschak and tailback Taber Small rallied Connecticut to a 20-9 victory over winless Rhode Island Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Feschak scored on an eight-yard pass from Husky quarterback Brian Hoffmann with 4:48 left in the third quarter. Small iced the victory with a one-yard run with 3:07 remaining in the fourth quarter.

UConn moved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic 10 while Rhode Island fell to 0-4, 0-2.

The Rams led 9-6 at halftime thanks to three field goals by freshman Ryan Szczesniak.

Rhode Island took a 3-0 lead with 4:19 left in the first quarter Szczesniak's 34-yard field goal but UConn answered with a five-yard touchdown pass from Hoffmann to tailback Barry Chandler on the second play of the second quarter. The extra-point attempt by redshirt freshman Marc Hickok hit the left upright, leaving the Huskies with a 6-3 lead.

The Rams tied the game on their next series on a 22-yard field goal by Szczesniak and then retook the lead at 9-6 on a 24-yard field goal with 4:50 left in the half. The Rams had a first and goal from the Connecticut two thanks to a 41-yard pass from Ken Mastrole to split end Damon Ray but had to settle for the field goal.
