RENO, Nev. (AP) _ David Neill threw two touchdown passes to Trevor Insley and ran for a third Saturday to snap Nevada's longest losing streak in 35 years with a 26-12 win over cross-state rival UNLV.

Neill completed 14 of 27 passes for 200 yards to help the Wolf Pack claim their first win in five starts this year _ their fifth straight in the intra-state battle for the Fremont Cannon.

The non-conference game was played under a smoky haze from a series of forest fires burning in California.

Insley caught a 53-yard TD bomb in the first quarter, then made a diving sideline catch in the end zone for a 12-yard score to give Nevada a 14-0 lead 9:45 before the half.

The Wolf Pack defenders sacked UNLV quarterback Jason Vaughan three times in the first half.

UNLV has lost its last three after winning the first two under new coach John Robinson.

The Wolf Pack went ahead 20-0 after a 25-yard pass from Neill to Insley set up Adrien Dugas' five-yard scoring run 5:13 before the half.

UNLV cut the margin to 20-6 when Jeremi Rudolph caught a screen pass from Vaughan and ran 40 yards for a touchdown with 3:53 left in the third quarter.

But Neill scored on a 12-yard run early in the fourth quarter to put Nevada back ahead 26-6.

Brad Osterhout caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Vaughan to complete the scoring with 5:07 left in the game.

Nevada had not started 0-4 since 1982 and had not lost five straight _ including the last game last year _ since 1964.

Insley now ranks 7th in the NCAA in all-time career receiving yards with 3,919 and he moved up to 13th on the career reception list with 231.

Chris Lemon ran for 136 yards and Dugas added 88 yards rushing for the Wolf Pack, who had 420 total yards to UNLV's 357.

Vaughan completed 19 of 33 passes for 180 yards, while Rudolph carried 20 times for 120 yards.
