BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Ticker) -- Carl Fair rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown to spearhead an impressive ground attack as Alabama-Birmingham avenged a heartbreaking loss from last season with a 47-0 annihilation of Louisiana-Monroe.

Fair, who had 15 carries, was part of a running game that amassed 317 yards and five touchdowns. Jegil Dugger contributed 79 yards and a score on 13 carries as the Blazers (2-2) exacted a bit of revenge, having suffered a 20-14 loss to the Indians last year.

Daniel Dixon was very efficient, completing 11-of-14 passes for 111 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. He fired a 10-yard scoring strike to Darrius Malone with 5:19 left in the third quarter, then Fair raced for a 10-yard TD less than four minutes later as UAB built a 40-0 cushion.

Reserve fullback Cory Conley had a pair of short touchdown runs around a 72-yard scamper to the end zone by starter Percy Coleman, helping the Blazers take a 27-0 halftime lead. It was the team's first 300-yard rushing performance since a 405-yard effort at Southwestern Louisiana on September 27, 1997.

Jake Arians chipped in two field goals and the UAB defense did the rest, forcing four turnovers and collecting three sacks.

Andy Chance was 14-of-23 for 117 yards but was picked off twice as the Indians (2-3) endured another brutal beating on the road. They lost at Minnesota, 35-0, and at Arkansas, 44-6, before posting a 38-7 home win over Northwestern State last week.
