ORONO, Maine (AP) _ Jake Eaton threw three touchdown passes in Maine's 35-7 nonconference victory over 25th-ranked McNeese State on Saturday. Eaton connected with Phil McGeoghan for a 9-yard touchdown in the second quarter and a 17-yarder in the third. Marquisse Silva had a 12-yard touchdown catch in the first for Maine (2-3, 1-1, Atlantic 10). The only scoring for McNeese State (1-3) came when Joe Judge blocked a punt inside Maine territory and returned it for a touchdown in the first quarter. Maine's defense kept McNeese scoreless the rest of the game with six interceptions and recovered three of the seven McNeese fumbles. Jason Betts forced one fumble and returned an interception for 78 yards and a touchdown with 1:09 left to play. Maine's Mike Harvey had two interceptions, one stopping a McNeese drive inside the 10-yard line. McNeese also had 8 penalties that cost the team 85 yards. Todd Jagoutz of Maine added to the scoring with field goals of 31, 36 and 24 yards, all coming in the second half. Eaton finished the game with 226 yards passing and he completed 16 of his 28 passes. Maine gained 117 yards on the ground, while McNeese rushed for only 25 yards. Maine led 13-7 at the half.
