ATHENS, Ohio (AP) _ Dontrell Jackson rushed for one touchdown and threw for another Saturday as Ohio beat Kent 31-3.

Jackson threw a 13-yard scoring pass to Drew Dwyer in the second quarter as Ohio took a 7-3 lead at halftime. The Bobcats (2-3, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) scored 14 points in the third quarter on 4-yard touchdown runs by Jamel Patterson and Jackson.

Mareion Royster added a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth and Kevin Kerr kicked a 38-yard field goal to finish the scoring.

Kent's lone points came on Dave Pavich's 44-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Patterson led the Bobcats with 110 yards on 20 carries. Jackson added 80 yards on 20 carries, and went 3-of-10 for 45 yards with no interceptions. Raynald Ray rushed for 22 yards and caught one pass for 22 yards.

Chante Murphy led the Golden Flashes (1-4, 1-1 MAC) with 59 yards on 17 carries. Jose Davis was 15-of-25 for 108 yards and one interception.

The Bobcats held Kent to 54 yards rushing, 162 yards total, while Ohio had 298 yards rushing on 65 carries and 343 yards total.
