FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ Freshman quarterback Mike Cerchio threw for four touchdowns Saturday as Fairfield University extended its winning streak to 12 games with a 41-14 victory over Central Connecticut.

Cerchio was making his first start in place of injured senior Jim Lopusznick. He connected on 15 of 25 passes for 232 yards and one interception.

Three of Cerchio's touchdown tosses went to receiver Steven Hadley, who finished with four catches good for 119 yards. The other scoring pass was a 23-yarder to Joe Milligan.

Receiver Eric Wise finished with six catches for 49 yards. He reached the 200-career reception mark with his third catch.

The Stags (4-0) jumped out to a 10-0 lead before Central (0-4) got on the scoreboard when Anthony Liquore caught a 48-yard scoring bomb from Keith Toolan. He also threw a 41-yard touchdown strike to Darryl Taylor in the third period.

Fairfield led 24-6 at intermission and added 17 more points in the second half while Central managed only 8 points on Toolan pass to Liquore and a two point conversion on Sharon Edwards run.
