MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) _ Wes Counts passed for a school-record 362 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as Middle Tennessee defeated Wofford 52-42.

With Middle Tennessee (1-2) leading 45-42, cornerback Jykine Bradley intercepted Travis Wilson's pass to set up Jamison Palmer's 4-yard touchdown run with 3:39 to play.

Wofford (0-2) scored first on a 76-yard fumble return by Tommy Woods in the first quarter.

Middle Tennessee countered with a 5-yard pass from Counts to Kendall Newson with 10:23 remaining in the quarter.

Middle Tennessee took the lead after Eugene Shaw recovered a fumble at the Wofford 20 to set up a touchdown run by Kelverrick Green with 3:24 left in the first period.

After trimming the deficit to three points, Wofford's defense finally held with 4:54 remaining. But Wilson's pass on the first play was intercepted by Bradley.
