SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) _ Cal Poly-SLO's Craig Young rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Mustangs in a 40-37 upset victory Saturday over Montana State, the first Mustangs win against a Big Sky opponent since 1997.

Cal Poly-SLO quarterback Andy Jepson completed 11-of-20 passes for 136 yards and one touchdown. Young rushed for 191 yards and caught four passes for 56 yards. Even Montana State coach Cliff Hysell was impressed.

``Craig Young is a heck of a back,'' Hysell said. ``I congratulated him after the game. The problem for us is that we face eight more just like him.''

The Bobcats (2-1), ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division I-AA, scored first when Matthew Peot kicked a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter. But the Mustangs made it 7-3 with a 60-yard scoring drive.

Ahead 20-13 at the half, Cal Poly-SLO (1-1) made it 27-13 on a 1-yard run by Jepson. But the Bobcats made it 27-20 with an 8-yard touchdown pass by Dusty Broderick to Brandon Vancleeve.

Montana State rallied from a 40-22 deficit late in the game, scoring on a 1-yard pass from Broderick to Vancleeve with 31 seconds left, recovering an onside kick and scoring again on a 59-yard pass from Broderick to Jake Boyer with seven seconds to play.

``If we learned anything tonight, it's that it's not over until it's over,'' Hysell said.
