Inside the Locker Room: Jamaal Magloire

 Thursday, March 9

We're getting ready for the SEC tournament this weekend and returning to the Georgia Dome where we've never been beaten. It's a great place to play. I love the atmosphere of playing in domes. But in all honesty, it's just another three games we'll have to play one at a time. Whether it's Georgia or Arkansas on Friday, we'll just prepare like always and expect a hard-fought game. Both teams came into Lexington last month and played well, so we'll have to be ready.

Inside the Locker Room
Throughout Championship Week, ESPN.com and FANSonly.com are presenting an inside look into the SEC tournament from some of the league's top players, including Jamaal Magloire of Kentucky. For more on Kentucky, visit the Wildcats' official athletic site.

This team is a little different than the others we have taken to Atlanta. It's not quite as deep and there are only three of us left who played on the 1998 national championship team. Again, there are only two players on this year's team who weren't on the team last year that advanced to the regional final. So most of the players we have on this roster have the experience of winning the SEC Tournament last season and nearly advancing to the Final Four.

We have a good attitude, we're working as hard as any team in the country and we've increased our intensity to the maximum.

Steve Masiello and myself are the only two seniors. We've been here four years. We have the experience to lead this team to win the whole thing. We're motivated to get the job done. Every year since I've been here, we've been underrated and overlooked going into tournament play. Yet, we've shown in the past we can get the job done and that we're among the elite in college basketball.

We're just starting to peak. Everyone's playing well. Tayshaun Prince has improved his game lately and he's a key to our success. Saul Smith is playing great at point guard and Desmond Allison is really shooting the ball well. Everyone is contributing. It will be important for us to continue to play well throughout our lineup if we're to reach our next goal of winning the SEC tournament.
