On Tuesday, four of the biggest names in college basketball took part in a conference call and talked about the outlook for their seasons. They also previewed one of the season's first big college tournaments -- The Coaches vs. Cancer IKON Classic, which takes place Thursday and Friday at Madison Square Garden and can be seen on ESPN and ESPN2.

The conference call started with first-year Iowa head coach Steve Alford. He talked about his first season at the helm of the Hawkeyes, who are coming off a 20-10 season that ended with a loss in the Sweet 16 to Connecticut.
The former Indiana All-America
guard was hired after a 78-29 record in four seasons at
Manchester College and a 78-48 record in four years at Southwest
Missouri State, ending with a 22-11 effort.

He was followed by Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, who is entering his 25th year as a head basketball coach. Coach K has spent the last 19 years at Duke and has compiled a 469-155 record. Last season Duke won 37 games but lost in the NCAA title game.
Next up was Jim Calhoun, head coach of defending national champion Connecticut. He talked about his team's run to the championship last season when the team lost just two games (34-2), and what it will take to repeat this year as the preseason No. 1.
To wrap things up, Stanford's head man, Mike Montgomery, hit the microphone. In 13 seasons at Stanford, Montgomery has a 261-139 record and a career record 415-216 (21 years).
After losing just seven games in the regular season last year, the Cardinal fell to Cinderella Gonzaga in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Stanford is ranked No. 13 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches preseason poll.
