1,000-point scorer was big contributor

Associated Press

BOSTON -- Boston College guard Ryan Sidney will not return to the team next season for personal reasons the school didn't disclose.

"We respect Ryan's decision," coach Al Skinner said Wednesday. "He has without a doubt made significant contributions to our program. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

Sidney played 95 games from 2000-03, starting all 63 the past two seasons. He scored his 1,000th career point last season, becoming the 29th player in the school's history to reach that mark.

He averaged 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in his BC career.
