Ridnour eliminates possibility of returning to school

Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon guard Luke Ridnour, who declared for the NBA draft last month, said Tuesday he will be represented by a law firm and forgo his senior season.

Ridnour did not sign with an agent when he made himself eligible, leaving open the possibility that he could return to Oregon under NCAA rules.

He will be represented by the Washington D.C. law firm of Williams & Connolly LLP.

"I want everyone in Eugene to know how hard this decision was," Ridnour said in a statement. "I had a lot of fun at the University of Oregon and I'm really going to miss it. I hope the fans realize how much I appreciate the way they supported the team whether we were good or bad. Playing at Mac Court, I had the greatest time of my life."

The 6-foot-2 guard was the Pac-10 player of the year and the MVP of the conference tournament, which Oregon won. He averaged 19.7 points and 6.6 assists last season.

"With Coach (Ernie) Kent's help, I've been able to get an idea of where I might be chosen in the draft," Ridnour said. "You never know for sure, but I feel pretty good that I'll go somewhere in the first round."

The draft is June 26.

Williams & Connolly also represents NBA players including Tim Duncan, Grant Hill and Shane Battier.
