Schneiderman, Carr score 19 points each for Flames

Associated Press

CHICAGO -- Aaron Carr and Jonathan Schneiderman had 19 points apiece as Illinois-Chicago beat Bowling Green 83-72 on Saturday.

Martel Bailey had 12 points and seven assists for Illinois-Chicago (18-7) as the Flames' bench outscored the injury-depleted Falcons 30-11.

John Reimold led Bowling Green (10-13) with 22 points, including 19 in the second half. The Falcons played the game without three of their starters as guard Jabari Maddox suffered a torn ligament in his right knee earlier in the week. Germain Fitch and Josh Almanson were lost earlier in the year to injuries.

Bowling Green jumped out to an 11-4 lead, but Illinois-Chicago went on a 17-5 run during the last 6:43 of the half to take a 42-30 halftime lead. The Falcons turned the ball over 20 times, leading to 19 points for Illinois-Chicago.

Since the start of the 2000-01 season, the Flames are 40-6 when leading at the half and 21-1 when scoring more than 80 points.

Bowling Green has lost six straight games including eight of their last nine.
