Much of this year's Syracuse success can be attributed to the play of point guard Jason Hart. Hart, Syracuse's assist leader, has a quick first step. His ability to break down the defense with the dribble sets up interior scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates.

(A) Jason Hart (5) is the perfect compliment to Syracuse big man Etan Thomas (33). Hart uses a Ryan Blackwell (32) screen to get things started. (B) Thomas sets a down screen for Preston Shumpert (3), Syracuse's leading three-point shooter. This leaves Thomas in solid position on the low block.

(C) Hart (5) penetrates the lane, drawing the defense away from Thomas (33) and Tony Bland (4). (D) Hart reads the defense and has the option to shoot or dish.
