Iona playbook: Dear Dyree Coach's Edge From 1992-1999, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference sent eight different teams to the NCAA Tournament. Iona broke that streak by winning the MAAC Tournament this season (they last won in 1998) and returning to the Big Dance. Sophomore Dyree Wilson earned the MAAC Tourney MVP by scoring 27 points in the final against Siena, and he'll need to do more of the same to get the Gaels past the first round in the NCAAs. ANIMATE THIS PLAY DIAGRAM WITH SHOCKWAVE (A) Leading scorer Tariq Kirksay (21) lines up on the elbow and pops out to the wing to get the pass from Jason Young (11). Kirksay, the MAAC Player of the Year, spends most of his time inside (19 points, 9 boards per game). But he can knock down the three if necessary, so defenses have to respect him. (B) Dyree Wilson (15) can also fill it up, as he did in the MAAC Championship game. He starts on the weak side and gets the ball on the reversal. (C) Kirksay (21) flashes inside off the Young (11) screen and finishes strong inside.
