Saturday Rhode Island at Saint Joseph's: The Hawks are thirsty for this rematch after losing on a buzzer-beater on Jan. 19. Ole Miss at Vanderbilt: This is the type of game the Rebels might need to win to get into the NCAA Tournament. Road wins are hard to get in the SEC, but this one is doable. LSU at Alabama: Can you say bubble game? That's right, the Tide is looking more like a bubble team than a lock the past two weeks. They desperately need this win. Indiana at Louisville: The Hoosiers could be on a three-game slide by this game and the Cardinals are the worst team to face lately. Just when it seems the game would be over, the Cardinals comeback and win. Tennessee at Auburn: The Vols and Tigers could be vying for a berth out of the SEC. But Auburn can't afford to lose a home game and stay in the SEC West race. Virginia at Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech can climb back into the race in the ACC if they sweep the homestand. But more importantly they need this win to get back in the NCAA Tournament discussion. Mississippi State at Georgia: Mississippi State has to pull off a significant road win. This would suffice. Georgetown at Notre Dame: The Hoyas have the size to bother the Irish but we're not sure they've got the guard play to hang with Chris Thomas and Matt Carroll. Pittsburgh at Syracuse: The rematch or grudge match returns to upstate New York. A Panthers sweep could lock up the West Division if Notre Dame can't catch Pittsburgh. But Syracuse should be jacked to get a piece of the Panthers. Oklahoma State at Texas: This is shaping up to be one of the best games of the Big 12 season. Oklahoma State is proving to be a tough road team after winning at Texas Tech. This is one of the best rivalries in the Big 12 that goes unnoticed. Tough defense will be the name of this game with T.J. Ford going against Victor Williams and Tony Allen in a great guard matchup. Colorado at Missouri: The Buffaloes will find out if they're a contender or a pretender after this week's road games. Texas Tech at Texas A&M: This could be Bob Knight's 800th win. Marquette at Cincinnati (ESPN, 4 ET): Marquette needs to pull off this kind of win if it wants to hold off Louisville, and Cincinnati, for the title. Purdue at Iowa: The Boilermakers must win a road game against one of the contenders if it wants to stay in the top four. Cal at Arizona: This is the first of two showdown games in the Pac-10. If the two teams win Thursday and are 8-0 by tipoff then that would be a first in Pac-10 history. Stanford at Arizona State: This could turn out to be one of those games the Sun Devils point to as a tournament game if they don't beat Stanford at home. Tulsa at Hawaii: This should be called the battle for second place in the WAC after both teams got beat again Saturday. Wyoming at UNLV: The Cowboys need to create separation from Utah and BYU and a win here would work.
Sunday Illinois at Michigan State: The Spartans need this win to ensure they can still make the NCAA Tournament. Oregon at USC: The Trojans are dangerous enough to beat Oregon and ruin the Ducks' fading hopes for a second-place finish. |
