LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (Ticker) -- Desmond Mason scored 26 points and 23rd-ranked Oklahoma State spoiled the coaching debut of Sidney Moncrief with a 93-64 pounding of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Oklahoma State (3-0), which began the season by winning the America's Youth Classic, led by just seven points at halftime despite shooting a blistering 70 percent (19-of-27).

But the Cowboys started the second half with a 23-7 burst to open a 70-47 cushion with 10:15 left.

A hero in Arkansas and a five-time NBA All-Star, the 41-year-old Moncrief graduated from Little Rock Hall High School before starring at the University of Arkansas from 1976-79.

Moncrief twice was named an All-American and led the Razorbacks to the Final Four in 1978. Current Oklahoma State coach Eddie Sutton coached the Razorbbacks from 1975-78.

Laveren Smith scored 17 points and Alan Barksdale added 14 for Arkansas-Little Rock (0-1), which was playing its first game at the new $67 million Alltel Arena, which seats 18,000 and features 28 luxury boxes.

Leading 49-42 early in the second half, the Cowboys ran off 14 straight points, capped by a 3-pointer by Mason that opened a 21-point cushion with 14:20 to play. Mason had a brilliant shooting night, making 10-of-11 shots.

The Cowboys, who shot 61 percent (36-of-59), led by as many as 32 points in the second half.

Barksdale scored 14 points in the first half to keep the Trojans close. But he did not score in the second, missing all 10 shots. He finished 3-of-20 from the floor, with all three baskets coming on 17 attempts from 3-point range.

Arkansas-Little Rock shot just 37 percent (22-of-59) and was outrebounded, 36-28.
