PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Frank Brown and Ugonna Onyekwe each scored 16 points as Penn defeated Yale 69-52, clinching the Ivy League title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Matt Langel and Michael Jordan each had 11 points for the Quakers (20-7, 13-0), which won their 15th straight game. Onaje Woodbine had a game-high 20 points and Chris Leanza 19 for Yale (7-20, 5-9), which finished its season with six straight losses. Trailing 31-21 two minutes into the second half, Yale used a barrage of 3-pointers, including three by Leanza, to close to 40-38 with 13:12 left to play. Jordan then hit a 3-point shot, sparking a 9-0 Penn run to give the Quakers a 49-38 lead with 9:19 left. A 3-point play by Onyekwe gave the Quakers a 52-42 edge, but the Bulldogs came back once again, closing 56-49 on a layup by Bill Parkhurst with 3:48 remaining. However, Penn, which had a 42-13 edge in front court scoring, got layups from Geoff Owens and Langel to seal the victory. Penn opened the game with a 12-2 run, but Yale rallied to within seven with 2:40 left and ended the half down 29-21.
