LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The NCAA and the Southland Conference are investigating the McNeese State men's basketball and track and field programs for possible rules violations.

Athletic director Sonny Watkins would not go into specifics about the alleged violations, but promised to release more information when a report is complete.

Basketball coach Tic Price and track and field coach Steve Baker refused to comment, citing the ongoing investigation.

Southland Associate Commissioner and legal counsel Beth Chapman has been to McNeese. She refused to comment, other than to confirm that there was an ongoing investigation in basketball.

Watkins said the information about allegations against the track program came over the weekend.
