Simmons, Street Pave Way To Texas Title

Justin Simmons
Sophomore pitcher Justin Simmons (16-1) scattered eight hits in the Longhorns' 12-6 win.
Texas, behind a rested pitching staff and a surprising offensive display, beat South Carolina 12-6 and claimed the school's fifth national championship Saturday. Justin Simmons, Alan Bomer and Huston Street limited the Gamecocks to six runs and Chris Carmichael, a surprise starter in left, blasted a three-run home run to lead the Longhorns.
