Users offer East's All-Star snubs

Here's a selection of who you thought were the most snubbed players from the Eastern Conference All-Star selections:

It's quite apparent from watching the Knicks all year that their leader on and off the court is Latrell Sprewell. He may average one or two points less than Houston, but that is due to a variety of factors:
1. He is clearly superior defensively.
2. Occasionally he plays the point.
3. He is the leader of the team.
4. He has an inside AND outside game.
5. He comes to play every night.
He has been a solid citizen since he joined the Knicks, and if any of the coaches harbor ill will against Latrell, it's time for them to forgive and forget.

Compared to Walker, Mason a brick of a pick
Antoine Walker
Many fans believe Antoine Walker has suffered a severe diss injury.
Antoine Walker deserved to be on the East team instead of Anthony Mason. It's a classic example of a player being stiffed for being on a bad team. If you put Walker on the Heat, they'd be in first place. Antoine leads the East in double-doubles. Put him on.

Walker is an 'impossible matchup'
Leaving Antoine Walker off the East All-Star team is a travesty. The man is the best power forward in the East bar none. He is a dominating post player but can shoot the 3, even making 9 of 13 in a recent 47-point outburst against Chris Webber and the Kings. He leads the team in rebounds, assists and is an impossible matchup for almost every opposing coach.

David Lynch
Orlando, Fla.

Oh, doctor, 'Dre belongs
I think Andre Miller should have been selected. He is a second-year player who will someday be the best at his position. The fans in Cleveland are lucky to see such a young superstar in the making. Monday night, he had 12 points, 10 assists, and 3 rebounds in a terrible loss to the Wizards. If the Cavs could get a big man that can play on a consistent basis then you will see Miller's statistics rise even more. As it is he is averaging 16.0 pts. 7.8 ast. 3.9 rbs. a game. I think those numbers and the resurgence of the Cavs warrant an All Star nod for Dre'.

Where's the love for the defending conference champions?
I cannot believe the Pacers are left without any representation on the All-Star team. Reggie, Jalen and Jermaine O'Neal were all worthy of selection. Reggie at almost 20 pts./game is having another All-Star year. Jalen being hurt at the start of the season did not help him and may be the hardest one to argue for out of the three. The one who is clearly having a All-Star year at his position is O'Neal. Averaging a double-double in points and rebounds and having close to 4 blocks per game puts him as on of the best centers in the East based on his numbers. Just because the team as a whole is having a tough year, the players who are putting up All-Star type numbers should not be overlooked. O'Neal is more than deserving than some of the other Eastern selections at the 5 spot.

Mashburn is the most snubbed of all
In the East, you can make a case for a few guys (Brian Grant, the only inside presence on that team, Antoine Walker, Sprewell, and Brand) but Jamal Mashburn is the most worthy snub, this coming from a non-Hornet fan. The Bugs need some respect sometime.

No Spree? No way
Spree IS the Knicks. Say what you will about his past but he is (and has always been) a hard-working player, at one time leading the league in minutes played while with Golden State. He shuts down the opposing team's best backcourt scorer and is fearless with the ball. His scowl has replaced Ewing's as the most recognizable game-face in NYC.

Who left the finger-waggler out?
MUTUMBO! How does a guy lead the league in rebounds and scare slashers out of the lane with mere glance not make the team from the L-East! I mean, with Alonzo taking the pity and uninformed (don't ask me how) votes ... Commish, here's where you come in and say, guys who aren't playing aren't All-Stars! Following this trend, I guess Jordan should have made the East team too. I'm sure he can still score and defend.

Brand recognition is overdue
Rather than compare statistics between Glenn Robinson (included) and Elton Brand (omitted from the East team), let me just say that they put up nearly identical numbers, but Robinson has two other All-Star caliber players on his team to draw defenders away (Cassell and Allen, also included on the squad), while Brand has none. Arguably, Ron Mercer could be considered a scoring threat, but not nearly of either of those in the Bucks' starting backcourt. Brand routinely draws double-teams in the low post and still puts up his 20+ points and 10+ rebounds per game while hitting nearly 50% of his shots from the floor. W/o Brand, the Bulls would likely be 0-43 rather than their current 6-37, which, after all, is the main reason why Robinson was chosen over Brand. Brand, who routinely guards centers should also have been chosen over the mediocre Theo Ratliff, who made the squad soley on the basis of his shot blocking ability and slightly improved defense. It is particularly disheartening to see that a player who has accomplished so much during his first two years in the league is being passed over again for an honor which routinely goes to players on the basis of their past accomplishments rather than their current level of ability (see Hill, Mourning, D. Robinson)

Cassell has the edge on Marbury
I thought for the most part, guys who deserved to make it did. But why is Stephon Marbury on the team? He plays for a sub-sub-par team (very bad), and all he does is shoot. He doesn't make anyone on his team better. I feel that Sam Cassell deserved to make it before Marbury. Cassell is the catalyst for the Bucks, the East's second best team. Sam Cassell is the reason the Bucks have the NBA's best record since November. Cassell is also the reason that Glenn Robinson is having a great year. He makes players on his team better. Marbury makes them worse.
