Rocker vs. Iverson: Mouth of the Bile?

ESPN.com

Allen Iverson's new rap CD is the target of protests by human rights organizations. They claim the lyrics are offensive and degrading to minorities, much like John Rocker's comments in Sports Illustrated last year. We've put the comments side by side, so you can judge for yourself.

(Editor's note: It is not the intention of ESPN.com to make light of or condone the remarks and opinions made by either Rocker or Iverson. We instead hope to provoke thoughtful debate and perspective on two major sports controversies.)

Rocker says

"Imagine having to take the 7 train... next to some queer with AIDS right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time right next to some 20-year old mom with four kids. It's depressing."

"The biggest thing I don't like about New York is the foreigners. I'm not a big fan of foreigners. How the hell did they get into this country?"

"I have no patience... So many dumb asses don't know how to drive in this town. Look! Look at this idiot! I guarantee you she's a Japanese woman. How bad are Asian women at driving?"

Iverson says

"Come to me with those fag--- tendencies and you'll be sleeping with the maggots be."

"Get money, kill and f--- bitches, I'm hittin' anything and planning on using my riches." (This song ends with a murder scenario.)

"Life goes on, n-----s don't live that long."

"Man enough to pull a gun, be man enough to squeeze it."

(This song ends with the lyrics played over the sounds of a gun being cocked and fired.)
