Mashburn too sick to continue

Associated Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte forward Jamal Mashburn left the Hornets' playoff game against the Orlando Magic in the first quarter Saturday night with flu-like symptoms.

He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was being held overnight for observation.

Mashburn, Charlotte's leading scorer at 21.5 points a game, bent over during a timeout and vomited into a trash can next to the team's bench.

He was replaced by Lee Nailon with 1:40 left in the quarter. Mashburn played 10 minutes, missing all six of his shot attempts.

Mashburn said he was feeling ill following Wednesday night's regular-season finale, complaining of cramps and an upset stomach late in the game.
