The Suns won 101-94 to take a 2-1 series edge, despite a 37-point effort by David Robinson.

Duncan, who has been out since April 11, missed San Antonio's last four regular-season games and the first two of the current series because of torn cartilage in his left knee.

"I just don't think he's ready," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said before the game. "I don't want to put him at risk."

Duncan has made progress in recovery but isn't there yet, the Spurs said.

San Antonio plays at Phoenix in Game 4 on Tuesday night.
