BEIJING -- Three Chinese NBA players including No. 1 draft pick Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets have been picked for their country's squad in the world championships, the official Xinhua News Agency said Tuesday.

Menk Bateer of the Denver Nuggets and Wang Zhizhi of the Dallas Mavericks are also on the Chinese team, the report said.

The championships are being played in Indianapolis on Aug. 29-Sept. 8.

Wang has not trained with the Chinese team, but is expected to join it for warmup games this week against the United States and Canada, Xinhua said.
