Jordan could return to court as soon as Sunday

ESPN.com news services

Michael Jordan returned to practice Tuesday with the Wizards in Denver and said he felt fine.

If practice continues to go well for Jordan this week, he might return to action as soon as Sunday against the Raptors in Toronto, The Washington Post reported.

In his first public comments in three weeks, Jordan told The Post Tuesday that he expects to sit out two more games (Wednesday at Denver and Thursday at Utah) while recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. The Wizards' next game after that is Sunday.

Jordan has missed 12 games since the Feb. 27 surgery, of which the Wizards have won four.

Jordan wants to increase his workout routine and then practice with the team to test his injured knee, Wizards head coach Doug Collins told the Post. He joined the Wizards on the road in Denver, but is not expected to play in either that game or another later in the week against Utah. The Wizards visit Toronto on Sunday.

Jordan is expected to practice several times before returning to the court.

"He wouldn't play without practicing," Collins said. "I would expect him to try and get two or three practices with us."
