Strained side could keep Bryant sidelines

ESPN.com news services

LOS ANGELES -- Kobe Bryant's status for Tuesday's NBA Finals rematch between the Lakers and Philadelphia is up in the air thanks to a strain in his right side, according to a report in Sunday's Los Angeles Times.

Bryant was injured Friday night at Memphis. He barely made it off the court near the end of the third quarter, but had his midsection wrapped and returned in the fourth quarter. But Bryant was ineffective and the Lakers lost, 114-108.

Bryant had 36 points in the game, but was just 1-of-5 in the fourth quarter.

Following the game, Lakers coach Phil Jackson said: "Shaq should've picked up right behind (Kobe). This is a team that doesn't have a big middle. We didn't get anything accomplished much in the middle."
