ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks signed point guard Emanual
Davis on Friday.
The 6-foot-5 Davis, who signed for the veterans' minimum of
$715,000, is expected to complement Atlanta shooting guard Jason
Terry.
Davis averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 assists against 1.2 turnovers
in 62 games with Seattle last season.
Davis said he had talked to Seattle coach Nate McMcMillan, who
made it clear he was welcome back, but felt his future would be
better in Atlanta.
"Looking at the players they have and the opportunity coach
(Lon Kruger) is giving me to run my own team, it was something I
couldn't turn down," Davis said.
Davis, who was not drafted after three years at Delaware State,
has played in the USBL, CBA and ABA. He played two seasons with
Houston (1996-98) and signed with Seattle as a free agent in 1999.
