O'Brien on Brown: 'It doesn't look good'

BOSTON – Boston Celtics guard Randy Brown was taken off the court on a stretcher with a hip injury Friday night after tripping over a teammate and falling to the court in tears.

Randy Brown's season was in doubt following a third-quarter collision.
"It doesn't look good for Randy for the rest of the year," Celtics coach Jim O'Brien said after the Celtics lost 100-96 to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Brown was cutting across the lane on defense when he apparently kicked teammate Mark Blount and went to the floor. He stayed there for several minutes while the team's training staff tended to him; he covered his face with his jersey while he sobbed in pain.

Brown started and played eight minutes in the game, registering two assists. He averaged 4.2 points and 2.9 assists in 53 previous games this season, spending time on the injured list with groin, ankle and knee injuries.

Results of an X-ray and an MRI were not known Friday night.
