Fresh 'Air' in the Windy City

The Bulls haven't drafted well since their championship team broke up. They've had good selections, but other than Elton Brand, their recent selections are still in the "can they make it?" category. Brand was a good selection, but even with him, they were still a low -percentage team in the Eastern Conference every year.

Elton Brand
Elton Brand wasn't enough for the Bulls.

The trade with the Clippers gave the Bulls the best chance to add talented players. Certainly, the players they are adding are young, but Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler are exceptionally talented. Both Curry and Chandler have more physical skills than Brand, and this trade makes the Bulls a better team.

As good as Brand was -- 20 points and 10 rebounds for a very bad team -- his presence wasn't enough to make the Bulls better. They really didn't improve with him; not because he's not a good player, but rather because they need more than Brand. Getting two quality guys -- no matter how young they are -- will be worth more than Brand alone.

Chandler has the potential to be a superstar. There are still some reports that Curry isn't a hard worker, but he has a tremendous amount of physical skill. If he can acquire a work ethic, he could do some damage when combined with Chandler in Chicago.

Busted first-round picks and free agent signings that never came to fruition have dashed big hopes for Bulls fans for several years. Bringing in two fresh faces with tremendous potential, this draft might be their first legitimate chance at success since Michael Jordan was in town.
