Armstrong says he proved himself to scouts

Pepperdine junior guard Brandon Armstrong will stay in the draft, rather than return to the Waves, Armstrong told ESPN.com Monday night.
Armstrong said he planned to call first-year Pepperdine coach Paul Westphal Tuesday and inform him of his decision.
"I have no intentions of going back to school," Armstrong said.
Armstrong was a consistent shooting guard during the Chicago pre-draft camp and is slated as a lock for the second round.
"I had a good camp," Armstrong said from Chicago. "I played real well. The feedback I got was good."
Armstrong said he's OK with going in the second round. He said he planned on signing with agent Aaron Goodwin later this week.
"I feel that the way I played showed I can play in this league," Armstrong said. "I can be a good two-guard in the league."
Armstrong said the coaching change at Pepperdine -- from Jan van Breda Kolff to Westphal -- had nothing to do with his decision. Armstrong averaged 22.1 points a game for the Waves. "I came to Chicago to prove to myself and the scouts," Armstrong said. "A lot of people were unsure about my talent but it worked out for me."
