Fred Johnson, who played college basketball at New Mexico, is his father. At Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, earned all-tourney honors after averaging 16.3 ppg and 7.3 rpg.

Finished second on the team in scoring (13.9 ppg) and assists (3.1 apg) as a senior. Scored in double figures 20 times. Finished seventh in Conference USA in field goal percentage. Scored a career-high 35 points against Houston in the regular season finale on March 4. Had 26 points and 10 rebounds against South Florida. Averaged 18.0 ppg in two games against Cincinnati.
