Originally an early entry candidate for the 1998 NBA draft, but withdrew his name from consideration prior to the draft. Did not apply for the 1999 NBA draft. Now eligible for the draft as a 22-year-old foreign player under NBA draft rules. After withdrawing from 1998 NBA Draft, signed with Fortitudo Bologna of Italy.

Highlights in Europe
Played two seasons for Peristeri in Greece as a teenager. In 1996-97, averaged 12.4 minutes per game for Peristeri, averaging 2.5 points and one rebound per game. In second season, playing time increased to 21.3 minutes per game, and production increased to 5.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. In first season in Italy, averaged 7.8 ppg and 2.9 rpg in about 23 minutes of playing time. Became a legitimate three-point shooting threat, hitting 23 3-pointers in 25 games. In second season with Fortitudo Bologna, increased his production without an increase in minutes Averaged 9.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, shooting 57 percent from the field in 24 minutes per game.
