SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Steve Francis scored 23 points and Cuttino Mobley had 22 as the Houston Rockets beat the San Antonio Spurs 90-84 in a preseason game Saturday night.

The Rockets took their first lead of the game with 10:02 left in the fourth quarter on a 3-pointer by Mobley, who scored half of his points in the final period.

Tim Duncan had 19 points and Antonio Daniels came off the bench to score 14 for the Spurs, who blew a 48-35 halftime lead.

The Rockets began to turn the tide late in the third quarter with a 12-1 run that started with a 2-foot jumper by Kelvin Cato with 3:26 left.

Houston brought the score to 66-63 at the end of the period, and then took the lead for good on Mobley's fast-break layup with 4:38 left in the game. Francis hit all six of his free throw attempts to secure the lead.

Spurs guard Avery Johnson sprained his left hamstring and left the game with 1:25 left in the first half. He had scored four points and grabbed seven rebounds in 12 minutes of play.

A crowd of 16,818 was at the Alamodome.
