Armstrong's late 3s sink Hawks

ATLANTA (AP) -- Darrell Armstrong hit two 3-pointers in the final three minutes and added two clinching free throws with 3.3 seconds left to give Orlando a 107-103 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Saturday night, ending the Magic's four-game losing streak.

Darrell Armstrong had 21 points and eight assists for the Magic, including two late, key 3-pointers.

The Magic took the lead for good with a 9-0 run in the final three minutes of the third quarter. The Hawks, who had a two-game winning streak snapped, tied the game four times in the final six minutes but were unable to take the lead.

Chris Gatling came off the bench to lead the Magic with 28 points, his final basket a 3-pointer that gave Orlando a 102-97 lead with 2:11 remaining. Armstrong added 21, including a 3-pointer at the 3:01 mark and another with 12 seconds left that gave the Magic a 105-101 lead.

Dikembe Mutombo led the Hawks with 22 points and 21 rebounds -- season highs in both categories. Jim Jackson added 19 for the Hawks.

Michael Doleac added 18 points and Tariq Abdul-Wahad 12 for the Magic.

Gatling converted a three-point play to cut Atlanta's lead to 74-73 with 3:06 left in the third.

Abdul-Wahad followed with a dunk at the 2:48 mark, Doleac scored from the top of the circle with 2:10 left and Chucky Atkins closed the 9-0 run with a driving layup for a 79-74 Orlando lead with 1:41 left in the third.

The Hawks also got 17 points from Bimbo Coles, Alan Henderson added 16 and Roshown McLeod and Isaiah Rider each had 10. Rider played 27 minutes off the bench in his second game back from a one-game suspension.

Game notes
The loss also snapped Atlanta's two-game winning streak at Philips Arena. ... The Magic took advantage of 15 Atlanta turnovers to score 24 points while the Hawks got only 11 points off nine Magic turnovers. ... Mutombo, who was second in the league in blocked shots with a 3.3 average before the game, rejected six shots against the Magic.
