GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Atlanta may have won for the second straight night, but Charlotte's No. 1 draft pick, Baron Davis, lit up the Bi-Lo Center in the Hawks' 93-91 exhibition victory Friday night.

Bimbo Coles and Isaiah Rider combined for 33 points in the second half to lead Atlanta (2-5), which defeated Chicago 112-88 in Ames, Iowa, on Thursday night.

Davis' 20-footer, which would have given Charlotte a one-point lead with 3 seconds left, bounded off the rim. It was his only miss of the game.

Davis, who came out after his sophomore season at UCLA and was selected third overall this past June, turned a lackluster game into his personal school yard. His 10-minute stretch in the second quarter built Charlotte (3-3) a 15-point lead.

He was 3-of-3 shooting, stole the ball twice from last year's Pac 10 player of the year, Jason Terry _ the Hawks' No. 1 pick this year _ and snapped passes through crowds that teammates Brad Miller and Eddie Robinson turned into layups.

On one play, Davis' drive was ended when he was fouled. But he brought the crowd to its feet when he continued for a one-handed slam.

Davis, who finished with 12 points, did it again with the game on the line, taking a pass from Miller and throwing down a two-handed jam as Charlotte took an 87-86 lead with 2:53 to go.

Rider and Coles had 20 points each, while Dikembe Mutombo had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Atlanta.

The game was the first at the Bi-Lo Center, which was scheduled to play host to Chicago's first exhibition game of 1998, but that was lost to last year's lockout.
