MIAMI (AP) _ Voshon Lenard scored 24 points to lead the Heat to a 116-110 victory over the winless Atlanta Hawks in Miami's preseason home opener Monday. Miami (2-1) won its seventh straight preseason home game, dating back to Oct. 11, 1996, while the Hawks dropped their fourth straight. Former Heat guard Bimbo Coles, now starting for Atlanta, led the Hawks with 23 points and seven assists. Roshown McLeod added 19. Miami's Alonzo Mourning outscored his Georgetown alum Dikembe Mutombo 20 to 8, but Mutombo grabbed 10 rebounds to Mourning's three. Following McLeod's basket, Atlanta led 97-95 early in the fourth. Mourning hit a hook shot and a dunk to start a 12-2 burst that finished off the Hawks. Following a Lenard jumper in the fourth, Atlanta's Isaiah Rider, who came over in the offseason trade for Steve Smith, picked up two technicals within seven seconds and was ejected for arguing with the officials. Lenard converted both technicals and then nailed a 3-pointer to give Miami a 106-99 lead with 4:34 remaining. For Miami, Rex Walters, Clarence Weatherspoon and Otis Thorpe didn't play because of injuries. Heat starters P.J. Brown and Dan Majerle did not play so Heat coach Pat Riley could get a closer look at Miami's fringe players such as Harold Jamison and Rodney Buford. Jamison had 10 rebounds.
