User feedback: Baseball-related band names

ESPN.com

Jayson Stark asked users for their input on what are the best bands named after baseball players. Here are the best responses:

A rock duo from Athens, Ga. goes by the name of "The Mendoza Line."

Daniel M. Maggin
College Park, Md.

There was a Toronto band about 10 years ago that rejoiced in the name Urban Shocker. The band's career, however, was not quite as strong as that of the famed Yankees hurler (187-117). I don't think they even ever actually got around to recording an album.

In the early 90s, there was a band in Brooklyn, N.Y. named Honus Wagner (with the last name pronounced like the German composer).

Scott Schleifer
Suffern, N.Y.

Mendoza Line
Southpaw
Damn Yankees
High Heat
Fastball

Tim Wahlers

My favorite baseball-related band name is courtesy of the ingenious Hoboken, N.J. sonic rockers, Yo La Tengo -- spanish for the infeilder's cry of, "I got it."

Daniel R.

Here's one: the band Throneberry, named after Marvelous Marv himself.

Paul L. Gaba
Stuart, Fla.

Sadaharu (named, of course, for Japaneese slugger Sadaharu Oh)

J. Breil
