Thursday, October 3 Weber's finger sore, not broken; he says he's ready Associated Press ANAHEIM, Calif. -- X-rays of Ben Weber's right index finger Thursday revealed no fracture and the Anaheim Angels reliever was listed as day-to-day by the team.
Weber was struck on the inside of the finger by a one-hopper hit by New York's Raul Mondesi in the eighth inning Wednesday night in Game 2 of the AL division series at Yankee Stadium. The Angels evened the best-of-5 series with the 8-6 victory. Game 3 is Friday night at Edison Field. "I'm going to say I'm 100 percent,'' Weber said Thursday. "I'm available. I want the ball every game.'' Weber wore a splint and iced his finger after the game, but showed up Thursday without the splint and with no apparent swelling, although he did say the finger was sore. Weber started the eighth inning of Games 1 and 2, allowing a total of four baserunners while retiring three batters. He was the losing pitcher in Game 1. |
