TORONTO -- Boston Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez played the role of Good Samaritan by returning Batman's cell phone.
Martinez, in Toronto to play the Blue Jays, found a National Post employee's cell phone in a taxi on Thursday and dialed the paper's news desk. That phone number -- dubbed the Batphone in the newsroom -- was stored in the telephone's directory under Batman.
"Is there somebody there called Batman who has lost his phone?'' Martinez asked.
The phone belongs to employee Kelly Nestruck, who called Martinez back to make arrangements for picking it up.
Martinez, a three-time Cy Young award winner, told her where she could find it: "I'm at the SkyDome. I'm a baseball player.'' |
