NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Padres and Cardinals traded right-handed pitchers on Sunday, with Brett Tomko going to St. Louis for Luther Hackman and a player to be named.
Tomko went 10-10 with a 4.49 ERA last season with the Padres, surpassing the 200-inning plateau for the second time in his career. He received three or fewer runs of support in half of his team-leading 32 starts.
Hackman went 5-4 with a 4.11 ERA, making six starts and a career-high 43 appearances. This winter, he has been pitching in Puerto Rico, going 2-3 with a 1.63 ERA in seven games, six starts. |
