Everett expected to play vs. Twins

Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers outfielder Carl Everett was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday for the start of a two-game series at Minnesota.

Everett is expected to play tonight against the Twins.

To make room for him, the Rangers optioned outfielder Kevin Mench to Triple-A Oklahoma.

Everett was placed on the DL on May 8 with a strained right calf muscle. He is batting .173 with five homers and 16 RBI in 28 games this season.

Mench is batting .267 with one homer and 10 RBI in 16 games with the major league club this year.
