CHICAGO (Ticker) -- It appears Mark Grace's days as a Chicago Cub are over. The Cubs today declined to tender arbitration to Grace, losing the rights to their four-time Gold Glove winning first baseman and lifetime .308 hitter until May 1. As a result, he will likely sign elsewhere and the Cubs will not be entitled to compensation in the form of draft picks. The Cubs also did not offer arbitration to reliever Rick Aguilera, third baseman Shane Andrews, catcher Jeff Reed and infielder Jeff Huson. Grace, 36, earned $5.3 million in 2000 when he batted .280 with 11 homers and 82 RBI. A three-time All-Star, Grace hit at least .300 in nine of his 13 seasons with the Cubs and was the major league leader in hits in the 1990's with 1,754. Aguilera, who turns 39 later this month, led the team with 29 saves, but squandered eight and had a 4.91 ERA in 54 appearances. Andrews, 29, hit just .229 with 14 home runs and 39 RBI this past season. His exit was imminent when the Cubs acquired third baseman Bill Mueller from San Francisco on November 19. Reed, 28, batted .214 with four home runs and 25 RBI in 90 games. Huson, 36, hit .215 with 11 RBI in 70 games last season.
