Angels agree to terms with RHP Ortiz on one-year deal

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Angels agreed to terms today with righthander Ramon Ortiz on a one-year contract and added three players to the 40-man roster.

Ortiz, 24, went 8-6 with a 5.09 ERA in 18 starts as a rookie last season. In 111 1/3 innings he allowed 96 hits, including 18 home runs, while walking 55 and striking out 73.

The 6-foot, 175-pound native of the Dominican Republic also started nine games for Anaheim in 1999, going 2-3 with a 6.52 ERA.

Outfielder Nathan Green and righthanders Steve Green and Bart Miadich were added to the 40-man roster, bringing Anaheim's total to 37.
