Commissioner's office postpones second game

Associated Press

BALTIMORE -- After a pair of rain delays in the opener, the commissioner's office postponed the second game of Tuesday night's doubleheader between the Baltimore Orioles and Oakland Athletics.

The Orioles and A's were supposed to play a day-night doubleheader, but the first game didn't end until about 10:40 p.m. ET -- more than nine hours after its scheduled starting time.

Oakland beat Baltimore 7-4 in the first game, taking a half-game lead over Cleveland in the wild-card race.

The teams will play a day-night doubleheader Wednesday, with the first game at 1:05 p.m. and the second at 6:05.

The start of Tuesday's game was delayed for 2 hours, 43 minutes. A second delay of 2:21 occurred after the seventh inning.

Although the crowd was announced at 30,166, only a few thousand fans showed up for the makeup of a May 28 rainout.
