LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers, fading from postseason contention, placed veteran shortstop Kevin Elster on the 15-day disabled list today and recalled righthander Mike Judd from Class AAA Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League. Elster, 36, has a strained left hamstring. He also was disabled from May 4-21 due to a pulled right groin muscle. Coaxed out of retirement, Elster is hitting .225 with 12 home runs and 29 RBI in 66 games. The 12 homers rank second among shortstops in Los Angeles Dodgers' history, behind Don Zimmer, who hit 17 in 1958. Judd, 25, has made one start this season for Los Angeles, allowing seven runs over four innings in an 8-6 loss to Pittsburgh on July 18. He was 7-4 with a 4.61 ERA in 22 games, including 21 starts, for Albuquerque.
