Expos vs. Dodgers
Montreal: When manager Felipe Alou brought the Expos into Los Angeles on Monday, he was met with questions about the possibility of changing his mind about managing the Dodgers -- who offered him the job prior to last season and were turned down. Alou stayed in Montreal because he felt his presence would lend some stability and credibility to a financially troubled franchise -- ultimately resulting in a new ballpark that would keep the team from relocating. "There's always going to be speculation," Alou said. "The situation now is not the same as before, but I can't talk about that right now. The best thing to do right now is to keep my mouth shut until I have the opportunity to open it. It has nothing to do with (Dodgers GM) Kevin Malone or the Expos. It has to do with me, and some personal things I believe I have to express." ... He has allowed 15 earned runs in 14 1/3 innings in that span. "It's tough, but that's part of the game," Bones said. "That's why baseball is so great, it's such a long season. The strong survive. San Francisco: SS Rich Aurilia has been so consistent this year as a fielder that it was news when he ended a 33-game errorless streak with a wild throw Sunday. He's been errorless in 51 of his last 53 games. "It's a matter of confidence," Giants manager Dusty Baker said. "He's been outstanding in the second half. He worked a lot during the off-season on flexibility and footwork, and he continues to work every day. He's aggressive and he's still learning how to play the position." ... OF Ellis Burks had to be scratched from the lineup Friday night because of flu-like symptoms. He returned to the lineup with back-to-back two-homer games. "He always seems to have some sort of illness," Baker said of Burks. "But we all knew if he played a lot he could get on one of those streaks." ... The Giants are beginning a stretch of 29 games against teams with losing records. Their next game against a winning team is when the Arizona Diamondbacks visit Pac Bell Park on Sept. 21. "We're playing teams that want to spoil our party," said Baker. "They're playing for respect and numbers. They have nothing to lose, and the managers are more aggressive. While Milwaukee has a respectable 29-32 home record, the Brewers were just 23-39 on the road going into Monday night's game. Arizona: 1B Erubiel Durazo underwent an MRI on his sore right wrist and team doctors were uncharacteristically mum on the results. At Durazo's request, Dr. Don Sheridan said he would wait until Thursday to discuss the situation. Durazo went on the 15-day DL for the third time this season on Sunday, and a second operation on the list seemed a likely possibility. ... Todd Stottlemyre will pitch his first rehab game Wednesday in Tucson for Arizona's Rookie League team. He will pitch three to four innings. A second rehab start is scheduled for next Monday, also in Tucson. Stottlemyre, out since June 26 with tendinitis in his right elbow, tentatively is set to rejoin the starting rotation Sept. 2 or 3. ... Going into Monday night's game, the Diamondbacks were 17 games above .500 for the first time this season.

Mets vs. Padres
New York: RHP Pat Mahomes (4-1) will start Tuesday afternoon's game against the Padres in place of LHP Mike Hampton, who will miss at least one start because of a broken rib. Manager Bobby Valentine didn't know whether Hampton would miss additional starts. "Nature lets us know those things," Valentine said Monday.
