ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Reggie Sanders' nightmarish first season with the Atlanta Braves got a little worse today as the slumping outfielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Sanders, 32, came to Atlanta with second baseman Quilvio Veras and first baseman Wally Joyner in a deal that sent first baseman Ryan Klesko and second baseman Bret Boone to San Diego in December. The 6-1, 185-pound Sanders hit a team-high 26 homers to go with 72 RBI and a .285 batting average with the Padres last season. But is hitting a paltry .193 with five homers and 18 RBI in 69 games this year and will be serving his second stint on the DL. Sanders was previously placed on the DL on May 6 with a sprained left ankle. In Thursday's 12-4 loss to Florida, Sanders went 1-for-3 and committed an error in left field that allowed two runs to score. The Braves filled Sanders' roster by spot by recalling outfielder George Lombard from Class AAA Richmond of the International League where the 24-year-old outfielder was batting .259 with six homers and 37 RBI in 97 games. Lombard has played in 12 games with the Braves over the previous two seasons, batting .333 with one homer in 12 at-bats.
